Cricket fans are waiting for the clock to strike 7.30 pm today (May 29), when Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (PBKS vs RCB) are set to face each other in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2025 at the Mullanpur stadium.
The winner of the match will directly qualify for the final match, and the losing side will get another chance to prove themselves in the Qualifier 2 match. But what will happen if today's match is unable to take place?
The PBKS vs. RCB Qualifier 1 clash is set without any reserve day, which means if the match does not happen, then there is no other extra date to reschedule the fixture. In that case, if today's match does not take place, then the boys in red will move to play the final match of this year's Indian Premier League, and RCB will have to play the Qualifier 2 match.
Shreyas Iyer's PBKS finished their group stage with 19 points in 14 matches and claimed the number one spot on the ladder. Bengaluru, with the same points, finished at number 2 because of the net run rate; PBKS (+0.372) has a higher run rate than RCB (+0.301). If the Qualifier 1 match is unable to conclude, then the net run rate will play an important role. Because of a slightly higher net run rate than RCB, PBKS has the advantage.
But there are no possibilities of today at Mullanpur, the sky to remain clear throughout the day and night. During the start of the match at 7:30 pm, the temperature can be around 34 to 33° Celsius and then will gradually decrease.
