Emotions started to erupt as soon as the very last ball of the IPL 2025 final hit the deck. Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers, two former players and legends of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), were prepared and were in the right place to celebrate this moment with the red and black team.
Over the years, multiple legends and iconic players had donned the jersey. One of them is Ross Taylor. During the initial days of IPL and RCB, he was one of the attractions of the team. During his playing days with the franchise, back in 2009, RCB was very close to lifting the trophy but fell short against Deccan Chargers (Hyderabad) in the summit clash.
Now, Ross Taylor, a former New Zealand international, still remembers the match against Decan. He took to his official Instagram account and expressed himself and congratulated Virat Kohli and RCB for the historic moment. Recalling his memory,

Taylor said, "I was there in the very first season back in 2008, when the journey began. Just a year later, in 2009, we were one game away from lifting the trophy that finally feels like yesterday. To see Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally win it after all these years fills me with immense pride. So many great players have worn that jersey. I know all of us are celebrating this moment with the fans today. Special congratulations to Virat Kohli. You’ve been the face of RCB, carrying the hopes of millions with unmatched dedication and belief. No one deserves this more."
Ross Taylor played 22 matches for RCB from the 2008 to 2010 seasons, bagging 517 runs at an average of 30.41, including two half-centuries.
