The preparations for the five-match Test series of Team India's main squad are in full swing in Beckenham. With lots of talent, it would be very hard for the newly appointed captain Shubman Gill and head coach Gautam Gambhir to choose the right combination for the first match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, starting on June 20 at Headingley.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from Test cricket. So the first task for the team management is to fill the space left by these two icons. A very tough task to do. But there are multiple cricketers in the squad who can bat at the top of the batting order and in the middle order as well. But who will bat at which place? That's the question.
A fresh report by ESPNcricinfo suggested that Sai Sudharsan can make his Test debut in the upcoming series against England. The report further suggested that the Gujarat Titans opener can take the place of Cheteshwar Pujara, who is number 3, because of his defensive batting abilities. And the skipper, Shubman Gill, can consider himself at the number 4 position where Virat Kohli made his name in the Whites.

These were the possibilities based on the practice seasons in the last few days there in the UK. According to the report, "The focus will be on Sai Sudharsan because he is not only lining up for his Test debut but is also the frontrunner to bat at No. 3 for India."
It is stated that while Sudharshan was not looking in control in the net sessions against Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, or Arshdeep Singh, Gautam Gambhir provided the batter with some important suggestions on how to balance the body using the back foot. Even after the training session, Gill was spotted with his Gujarat Titans teammate, talking about batting.
