Back-to-back second win for Salem Spartans (SS) in the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL 2025). In match 9 of the tournament, they got the better hand over Idream Tiruppur Tamizhans (ITT) by 4 wickets in hand and 1 ball to spare. The match was a close encounter and concluded in the very last over of the contest. All-round Harish Kumar's unbeaten innings in the end proved decisive to find the winner of the night. Before the next match, ITT will have to push extra effort during their practice sessions to mobilize their fielding more.
After winning the toss, SS chose to bowl first at Salem Cricket Foundation Stadium. The opening pair of Tiruppur stitched a 73-run partnership to build a solid foundation, though they did not utilize it well due to some tight bowling performances by the home team. Apart from their opening stand, the rest of their batting remained underwhelming, and the team ended with 177/8 on the scorecard. M. Poiyamozhi took 3, and M. Mohammed claimed 2 scalps with smart economy rates.
Salem lost their first wicket at 0 on the scoreboard and lost both of their opponents when the team was at 27. From there they fought back and grabbed the second win on the trot. Nidish Rajagopal's 64 and R. Kavin's 32 in the middle overs change the whole complexion of the match. Harish and Boopathi Vaishna Kumar did the rest of the business properly for Spartans.
