What a knock played by C Hari Nishaanth, the opener of Salem Spartans (SS), who scored 83 of 58 deliveries with seven 4s and three 6s, strike rate 143.1. But as a unit, the Spartans' batting order did not manage to stand strong as it should have after a mind-blowing inning at the top of their batting order. V. Athisayaraj Davidson-led bowling line-up of Trichy Grand Cholas restricted SS to only 179, which is chaseable in 20-over innings. But under pressure, Salem had their own strategy.
After winning the toss, Grand Cholas wished to bowl first, and they did a decent job by taking wickets from one end. While Hari was making runs, opponent bowlers were taking wickets at the other end. Sunny Sandhu added an important 45-run innings and helped to take the team to 179 for 8 wickets. Athisayaraj Davidson disrupted the SS batting line-up by taking 3 wickets.
The match got more intense in the second innings when a couple of Trichy batters became nightmares for the opposition bowlers. Jagatheesan Kousik and R. Rajkumar fought back with 62 and 59 runs, respectively. Rajkumar's departure proved to be a major setback for Grand Cholas, and they were outclassed by only 7 runs.
