In Match 9 of the Vidarbha Premier League (VPL) 2025 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jamtha, Nagpur, Bharat Rangers (BHR) registered a dominant 77-run win over Orange Tigers (ORT). Orange Tigers elected to bowl first after winning the toss, but Bharat Rangers pulled off a batting masterclass and then reciprocated with sharp bowling.
Bharat Rangers totalled a daunting 203/3 in their 20 overs, courtesy of a scintillating start by their top-order batsmen. Danish Malewar played an unflustered yet belligerent knock of 72 off 46 balls to set the tone for the side. He received excellent support from Updesh Rajput, who replied stroke by stroke to him with 71 off 46 deliveries. Skipper Atharva Taide blasted a fiery cameo, hammering 41 from 20 balls to take the total to a big height. Even as the run rate looked high, ORT bowlers were unable to stem the run flow. Akshay Karnewar (1/35), Darshan Nalkande (1/53), and Kshitiz Dahiya (0/15) could not stop the run rate as BHR set a huge target.
Pursuing 204, the Orange Tigers never really seemed to be on top and were bundled out for 126 in 14.3 overs. Apoorv Wankhade gave a glimpse of him showing some fight with an elegant 45 off 28 balls, and Akshay Karnewar contributed with a crisp 29 off 16. But the rest of the batting line collapsed under pressure. BHR bowlers were merciless in their follow-through—Manan Agarwal was the bowler of choice with 3/33, while Parth Khure (2/23) and Varun Bisht (2/0 off just 3 balls) made certain that ORT never staged a comeback. The overall all-around show handed Bharat Rangers a resounding victory and consolidated their position in the league.
