Former India U19 World Cup skipper and current USA international Unmukt Chand produced a fine performance for the Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAS) against the San Francisco Unicorns (SF) in the third game of the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) season. The game, played on Sunday, June 15, at the Oakland Coliseum in California, witnessed Chand producing a classy half-century while chasing an intimidating target set by SF.
Pursuing 220 LAS lost early as Alex Hales was sent back to the pavilion for a mere six runs. Unmukt Chand came in at no. three and stabilized the innings despite the loss of Andre Fletcher for 19. Chand put together a brisk 46-run stand with Nitish Kumar, who made 18 runs. Chand later put together 33 more runs with Matthew Tromp. Chand’s knock of 53 off 32 deliveries, featuring four boundaries and four sixes, kept LAS in the hunt.
However, despite a few late cameos, the Knight Riders fell short. Matthew Tromp scored 41 off 31, and skipper Sunil Narine struck a brisk 27 off 13 balls. But the lower and middle order were unable to carry it through, with Andre Russell dismissed for a two-ball duck. LAS were bowled out for 187 in 19.5 overs, losing the game by 32 runs. Xavier Bartlett and Haris Rauf dominated the Unicorns' attack, claiming four wickets each.
Earlier in the match, SF were sent to bat and lost Tim Seifert early for a mere five. But Finn Allen and Jake Fraser-McGurk run riot over LAS bowlers with a blistering 121-run partnership off just 55 balls. Allen scored 52 off 27 balls, while Fraser-McGurk illuminated the stadium with a scorching 88 off 38 balls, striking two fours and a whopping 11 sixes.

Down the order, Cooper Connolly contributed 20 not out off 18, and Haris Rauf came in with 16* off 7 to take SF to a dominant 219/8. In the LAS bowling department, Shadley van Schalkwyk picked up three wickets. ed up three wickets.
