The ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for 2023-25 has concluded with a new champion in South Africa. Defeating the defending champion Australia, the side led by Temba Bavuma claimed the Test mace. Through winning the WTC 2025 Final, South Africa ended their 27-year-long trophy drought. Cricket is now a cash-rich sport, so the fans are curious to know about the prize money distribution completely.
South Africa entered into the tournament as an underdog. Even in the final match, they were less favored to win the trophy over Australia. But they prove many critics wrong and win the Test mace by defending the defending champion. Aiden Markram made the difference between two teams with a match-winning century in the second innings, well backed by captain Temba Bavuma's fifty-plus individual. The match was a pure thriller to watch at Lord's. As soon as they hit the winning runs, the iconic stadium flooded with raw emotions all over the place. The day was picturesque, approaching the summer days with blue sky and broken white clouds over the lush green field.
Team Australia captain Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood—the Aussie pace trio—tried hard to prevent South Africa from getting the required runs, but that was not enough. On Day 4 of the final, history was written by South Africa.
